Morning Ice?

Several members have expressed concern about being able to make our 3:15 pm weekday sessions, especially on Mondays, and have asked if we could have early morning session(s). I've checked and we could have a 60 or 75-minute session at 6:00 or 6:15 am on Tuesdays, or possibly Mondays. If we did this we'd cancel the Monday afternoon session.

In the past, we've had too low a turnout at early morning sessions to justify them. If we give up Monday afternoon we probably won't get it back this season because FHYA will take it.

Fundraising/Skate Deodorizers

Skate deodorizers

As some of you know I have been working on some fundraising ideas for the club to start a scholarship fund for the skaters. We are still working up the final details on how the application will work, however I think that it will be a great benefit for the club. I will be sure to keep you all updated as soon as we have all the details. To kick off the fundraising I will have skate deodorizers available for sale. They include a set of deodorizers and a spray for them.

Proposed City Ice Fee Increase Tabled

On July 3rd, City Council voted 6 to 1 to table discussion of the proposed fee increase until September. This most likely means no fee increase before spring 2013. And the majority of the council is in favor of phasing in any increase over a 3 to 5 year period. Huge thanks to the skaters, parents, coaches and board members who showed up, filled out comment cards, and spoke to Council!
