New Club Ice Level

We've added a new level of monthly club ice fees to encourage new members. The rate is $35 for 5 sessions per month, effective October 1. This is an experiment- if it doesn't work out we will cancel it.

Skater of the Month- September

Skater of the Month

Thanks, Lyrica, for an outstanding job running for the competition- for the second year in a row! (Runners move music, judge's sheets, and results between the music box, check-in desk, official's room, judge's box, and the lobby. Without runners, the competition stops.)

Skater of the Month- August

Thanks, Megan, for running the check-in table and being the cheerful face of FFSC!

Volunteer of the Month

Volunteer of the Month

Thanks Rhonda, for doing at least three major volunteer jobs at Ice in the Pines 2012- holding our largest and most successful test session ever, providing the food for the test session, and running the officials room almost single-handedly for three days. Thanks to your efforts at all three Ice in the Pines and our test sessions, the judges love our club.

Morning Ice?

Several members have expressed concern about being able to make our 3:15 pm weekday sessions, especially on Mondays, and have asked if we could have early morning session(s). I've checked and we could have a 60 or 75-minute session at 6:00 or 6:15 am on Tuesdays, or possibly Mondays. If we did this we'd cancel the Monday afternoon session.

In the past, we've had too low a turnout at early morning sessions to justify them. If we give up Monday afternoon we probably won't get it back this season because FHYA will take it.

Fundraising/Skate Deodorizers

Skate deodorizers

As some of you know I have been working on some fundraising ideas for the club to start a scholarship fund for the skaters. We are still working up the final details on how the application will work, however I think that it will be a great benefit for the club. I will be sure to keep you all updated as soon as we have all the details. To kick off the fundraising I will have skate deodorizers available for sale. They include a set of deodorizers and a spray for them.

Thank you Morgan for speaking in front of the City Council and helping keep our ice fees from being raised!
